Smoking ban on Thai beaches to promote clean and safe environment

Thailand has introduced a new measure to conserve the environment and protect its natural resources in 24 beaches and coastal areas.  The measure which has already entered into force on 31 January 2018 will prohibit the following:
 
(1) Smoking or disposing of cigarettes, except in designated areas.
(2) Disposing of all forms of wastes, including toxic waste such as polystyrene substance, plastic and leftover oil, except in designated areas.
(3) Any act that can cause damage to the coastal areas.
 
These beaches are in the provinces of Trat (Banchuen Beach) ; Chantaburi  (Laem Sadet Beach); Rayong (Saeng Chan Beach); Chon Buri (Bang Saen , Tam Pang Beach, Sai Kaew Beach and  Dongtan Beach); Petchaburi (Cha-am Beach); Prachuap Kirikan (Hua Hin Beach and Khao Ta Kieb Beach), Chumpon (Sairee Beach); Suratthani (Bor Pud Beach); Trang (Samran Beach); Krabi (Klong Dao Beach and Kor Kwang, and Phra-ae Beach); Phang-Nga (Khao Lak Beach, Khai Nok Beach, and Khai Nai Beach); Phuket (Patong Beach);  Pattani (Wasugree Beach); Songkla (Chalatas Beach); Nakhon Si Thammarat (Plai Sai); and Suratthani ( Chalok Baan Kao Beach).
