On 16 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Sathana Kashemsanta Na Ayudhya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Hellenic Republic, and Chairperson of the ASEAN Committee in Athens (ACAT), along with Ambassadors and a chargé d'affaires ad interim of ASEAN countries, paid a joint courtesy call on Mr. George Tsilimidos, Acting Mayor of Argostoli, Kefalonia Island.

The ASEAN side and the Acting Mayor exchanged views and information on Kefalonia, especially its tourism industry, and discussed cooperation between the ASEAN Embassies and Kefalonia, including issues related to workers from Southeast Asia.

Kefalonia is the birthplace of Constantine Gerakis, also known as Constantine Phaulkon (1647-1688), a Greek man who traveled to Siam (Thailand) in 1675, and later assumed a significant role in the government during the reign of King Narai the Great.

On this occasion, as a gesture of hospitality honoring their historical connection, the Royal Thai Embassy also served Thai food to the municipal officials.
